We are investing massively in agriculture and a

significant sum of our investment and asset portfolio is

oriented towards reaping the potentials of the

agricultural sector. Cognizance of the drought in

technological adaptation in the sector, we are

pioneering solutions at various levels of the sector.

At the global and community level, we are galvanizing

resources and data to build an agricultural information

system that gives guidance to the policy makers and

stakeholders in the sector. Our reach is global and pull

together a global network of data, tools and resources

to give a true representation of the agricultural outlook

of any locality.

At the business level, we have developed tools that

advances efficient farm practice. Our tools are used in

livestock feed formulation, livestock tracking, harvest

planning, crop management, post-harvest processing,

seed enhancements, irrigation control, weather analytic

tools and sensors for auto scheduling of farm activities,

etc.

NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL TRANSFORMATION INVESTMENT PLAN

NPGIS provide an investment vehicle for the achievement of a fully

National Agricultural Transformation. We gathered the component pa

of a wholly functional national agricultural transformation blueprint and

are willing to invest in the agricultural transformation as a single entity, to

be coordinated under a unified management system. Our strategy is to

provide full guarantee to the investors concerned about counterpart

system risks that are influencing and deteriorating their investment. An

example is demonstrated with investment in grain cultivation, being

impacted by absence of price control vehicles, modal transport system

and cargo handling infrastructure.

The example suggests that coordinated investment on all facet of the

agricultural ecosystem is of economic importance. The Feed Africa’

Initiative brought together experts, policy influencers and stakeholders

an exposition of knowledge geared towards understanding and outlining

the requirements for Agricultural transformation. This resource persons

utilized a combination of precedent intellectual works on the subject and

conducted elaborate analysis that they noted involved use of iterative

technics in engagement of stakeholders as an alternative to recursive

traditional engagement options.

3. Develop a modal transport infrastructure consisting of rail network,

micro rail stations, inland water ports and farm roads -> the target is

seven processing mega hubs with standard gauge lines connecting all the

hubs to existing seaports and the proposed inland waterway port on

Baru, Loko, etc…

4. Describe a financing framework for implementing the scheme -> the

target is a system that will use PPP and guaranteed fund availability to

implement the scheme

We produced a comprehensive document that explores the business case,

strategic case, financing model, social justification and risks for the SPV

preferred project. We proposed the role of government, private business

participants, and us as the primary sponsors. The document is a guide and

also serves as notice and proposal of our intention to the government and

co-investors.

They were able to identify seven enablers necessary for the achievement

of a fully national agricultural transformation. This are summarized into

the following bullet points:

1. Increase productivity by catalyzing the development of effective input

distribution systems and reduction in post-harvest waste and loss;

2. Realize the value of increased production by facilitating increased

estment into output markets and supporting market incentives;

3. Increase investment into enabling infrastructure, both hard

infrastructure (such as roads, energy and water) as well as soft

infrastructure (especially ICT, which can have positive effects);

4. Create an enabling agribusiness environment with appropriate policies

and regulation;

5. Catalyze flows of capital (especially commercial lending and private

investment) to scale agribusinesses;

6. Ensure that transformation delivers on broad-based needs of Africans,

by ensuring inclusivity, sustainability and effective nutrition beyond what

the market may deliver otherwise;

7. Coordinate activities to kick start transformation, align activities and

investments of different actors, and guide initial activities to the point

where private sector actors can be crowded in;

We have utilized this itemized requirement to develop a comprehensive

investment vehicle that is structured under a contemporary Public-

Private-Partnership (PPP) and that adequately achieves the objectives of

the “Feed Africa” plan and other nationally customized agriculture

transformation plan. An action summary of our special purpose vehicle

(SPV) mission objective as it relates to the practicalities of a private sector

coordinated National Agriculture Transformation are presented in the

following bulleted points:

1. Develop a strategic chain and pathway for growth of family farm

practices into commercial practices -> the target objective will be to

develop 5000 mega farms.

2. Build a market guarantee system that uses grain storage network, and

marketing board to achieve optimum proftability -> the target objective

is storage facility and market board offices in 774 Local Government

Areas (LGA).

We have an array of tools that are cheap to deploy and

manage with little oversight requirements. Our tools

do not require extensive educational background to

utilize as they are designed to be interactive and

highly user friendly.

farmers and communities will stand to attain their dreams

of growth, better living, self-development and build the

baton of prosperity that they would pass to posterity.
